Configure Stripe for the AI Gateway
To allow your users to securely query customers, payments, and other Stripe resources using their AI clients, you can configure the Stripe Model Context Protocol (MCP) server within the JumpCloud AI Gateway.
Prerequisites
- Before configuring specific enterprise applications, we recommend reviewing the Get Started: AI Gateway guide to familiarize yourself with the gateway architecture and core AI concepts (such as MCP servers and AI clients).
Completing Application Setup
Before you can connect this server to the AI Gateway, you must determine your authentication method. See Stripe’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) to learn more.
- OAuth: Stripe’s MCP server supports OAuth Dynamic Client Registration (DCR), so no app creation or additional configuration is required to connect it to the AI Gateway.
- API Token: Create a restricted API key in the Stripe Dashboard. Stripe recommends restricted keys for MCP use.
Stripe’s MCP tools are currently in public preview and currently support read and list operations. Stripe manages the remote MCP server and may update available tools over time.
Configuring the Server in JumpCloud
See Adding MCP Servers in Configure AI Gateway Integrations and use the following values to configure this server:
- App: Select Stripe (if you have an existing SSO application or bookmark), or + Add App to create it
- Name: Enter a name, for example Stripe
- Prefix: Enter a value to prepend to MCP tool names
- Note: Prefixes must be unique. Maximum 8 characters, letters and numbers only
- URL:
https://mcp.stripe.com - MCP Authentication method: Select OAuth or API Token, then complete the corresponding fields that appear:
- OAuth: Under Advanced fields, no additional configuration is required.
- API Token: In the App API documentation link field, enter
https://docs.stripe.com/keys#limit-access
Your users will now see Stripe listed as an available application when they authenticate their AI clients through the JumpCloud AI Gateway. If you selected API Token authentication, users can click the documentation link you provided to learn how to create a restricted API key.
